That is right—there really is free educational content for all those interested in Rheumatic and Musculoskeletal Diseases (RMDs) on the EULAR School of Rheumatology website. It is easy to access and just three clicks can take you straight to the content you need. Search for EULAR School of Rheumatology in your web browser,1 click on ‘catalog’, click on ‘free learning material’. Choose what you need, one more click and you are there. In particular, the EULAR imaging library and EULAR learning material for rheumatoid arthritis (RA) will give you lots of images and slides to help with your presentations.
How is this available? EULAR has a long history of providing education for rheumatologists, health professionals in rheumatology and people with RMDs. This commitment to education in enshrined in the EULAR strategy and will always be a large part of what EULAR does. The delivery vehicle for this and your point of access is the EULAR School of Rheumatology (ESOR), founded several years ago while Professor Gerd Burmester was EULAR President. The ‘School’ provides more than just free learning materials with, in excess of 80 online courses and modules. This includes the ever popular ‘EULAR course in rheumatic diseases’ that attracts around 1000 new learners every year who are exposed to easy to use and interactive online teaching across the breadth of RMDs. There are also courses aimed at people with RMDs and health professionals who work in the RMD space. In addition to online courses, there are live face-to-face courses which are now getting back on track after a 2-year move to virtual due to COVID-19. Some of the most popular include the MSK ultrasound and capillaroscopy courses but there is also immunology, epidemiology and the EULAR Postgraduate Course for Health Professionals in Rheumatology. The quality of the online and live courses is provided by the large number of dedicated rheumatologists, health professionals and people with RMDs who develop and update the courses. Having colleagues involved who work or live with RMDs every day keeps the content relevant.
So, let us get back to that free content and how it might be used. Remember…. EULAR School of Rheumatology. Three clicks and you are there. In the last couple of weeks, I have done just that. Three clicks and I downloaded a slide showing the comorbidities associated with RA for a talk. Three clicks and I checked how disease activity scores in RA are calculated using the EULAR outcome measures library. Three clicks and I had access to a video showing medical students how to examine joints. And, while you are looking at the website you can register with the ESOR and then browse the online courses, live courses and bursaries to attend meetings and scientific training grants to visit a centre in another country.
EULAR School of Rheumatology, ‘catalog’ – click, ‘free learning material’ – click, choose what you want – click.
